Senior Accountant

Permanent employee, Full-time · Czech Republic, Hybrid (Hamburg) or Remote (Germany)

Introduction:

As a Senior Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of our global operations. You will be responsible for a wide range of accounting functions, with a primary focus on General Ledger (GL) accounting and bank processing. Given our small team, you will also be involved in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes. This role requires a proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced, startup environment and can adapt to the complexities of international finance.

What you will be doing:

General Ledger (GL): Manage GL accuracy, perform month/quarter/year-end close (journal entries, reconciliations, financial reporting), analyze balance sheet accounts, ensure compliance with German GAAP and IFRS, and support audits.
Accounts Payable (AP): Review AP entries, manage vendor relationships, process timely payments, and maintain accurate AP records.
Accounts Receivable (AR): Monitor customer accounts (collections, aging), process payments, and maintain accurate AR records.
Banking Operations: Process bank statements, perform reconciliations, manage multi-currency/intercompany transactions, and process bank payments.
Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements, develop/maintain accounting policies, and assist with financial software implementation.
Other: Support VAT/tax tasks, provide ad-hoc financial analysis/reporting, and assist with other accounting duties.

Who you are:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a startup or fast-paced environment.
Strong understanding of GL accounting principles and practices.
Experience with AP and AR processes.
Experience with dealing with banks including on-boarding new banks and ERP integration is a plus
Experience with multi-currency accounting and international operations is highly desirable.
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, experience with NetSuite is a plus.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote setting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with IFRS, knowledge of German accounting standard HGB is a plus.
Fluency in English (German language skills are a plus)
